Announcing the Opening of Our New Clinic in Merriam, KS

Kansas City Orthopedic Alliance, a merger of the area’s most trusted orthopedic clinics–APEX Orthopedics & Sports Medicine, Dickson-Diveley Orthopedics, and Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine Consultants—is proud to announce the opening of our new location in Merriam, Kansas.

Adding to our 4 additional locations in Kansas City, Overland Park, Leawood, and Belton, this new setting allows us to provide more comprehensive orthopedic care throughout the area. Located at 7450 W. Frontage Rd, Merriam, KS 66203, moving into this state-of-the-art facility will allow KCOA and its providers to further their mission of being the premier destination for orthopedics in Merriam and the Greater Kansas City area.

Below, we’ll discuss some of the things both new and returning patients can expect with the opening of this new facility.

No Changes to Your Current Care

First and foremost, this new facility will not require patients to alter how they receive care at KCOA. As an extensive network of orthopedic clinics in the Kansas City metro area, patients have the freedom to choose a location that works best for them!

Opening the Merriam office will cause only minor shifting of physician schedules and available locations. If you already have a location and provider that you’re comfortable with, the opening of Merriam will likely not affect your preferred location or provider of care.

We anticipate offering urgent care services in Merriam in the very near future.  If you have an urgent care need, we have locations in Overland Park, Leawood and Belton that can serve you today!

One of the primary goals of opening this new facility is to provide patients with easier access to top quality care. Rather than traveling to a different city, patients in or near the city of Merriam can choose to receive the same treatments and services at a more easily accessible location.

Your Current Provider

Because we’re a physician-owned network of clinics, the same providers you’ve built relationships with are the ones who played a significant role in establishing this new clinic.

At the time of opening the Merriam clinic approximately 25% of our total providers will see patients at this location.

This means that, in the vast majority of instances, you will have the option to see your preferred provider at your preferred location. If your preferred location is Merriam and your provider is seeing patients there, we’ll be excited to transfer your care.

KCOA remains committed to providing the most advanced, scientifically driven treatment options available to all of our patients. Offering this new location will only enhance this commitment to excellence. The process by which care is delivered will not change—you can see your provider and receive the highest level customer care and service available in the KC Metro area.

First Time Seeking Orthopedics in Merriam? Here’s What to Expect at KCOA

If you haven’t visited KCOA before but live in the Merriam area, we would love to welcome you to our brand new, state-of-the-art facility.  We will be able to provide service for nearly every orthopedic care need.

First, here’s what you should know about KCOA. As previously mentioned, KCOA is an independent, physician-owned practice formed from a merger of 3 trusted Kansas City area orthopedic clinics—APEX Orthopedics & Sports Medicine, Dickson-Diveley Orthopedics, and Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine Consultants.

This merger combines over 140 years of experience between the three practices, and has allowed us to greatly expand our care capabilities. We have over 50 board-certified providers (and growing) along with 5 locations across the metro area.

The goal of both our merger and expansion is simple: to become your go-to resource for all musculoskeletal needs. As evidenced through our new location, we’re constantly striving to meet patients wherever they are located. Whether you need orthopedics in Merriam, Overland Park, Kansas City, Leawood, or Belton, we ensure that you have access to the best care possible.

What Does the “Best Care Possible” Look Like?

Our approach to providing care focuses on more than just achieving a good outcome. KCOA providers want to take the time to learn about your unique situation and your lifestyle—in addition to your individual symptoms and treatment goals. We believe that providers and patients achieve optimal results through a collaborative, personalized approach to care.

Our highly trained, board-certified physicians and providers offer the capability to treat an extensive range of musculoskeletal injuries. When seeking orthopedics in Merriam, we can  likely match patients with a provider that specializes in their specific area of concern.

Diagnosis & Treatment

Once you establish a provider—and discuss everything during your initial consultation—we can utilize a number of different advanced technologies to provide a correct diagnosis for your concern. A patient’s diagnosis is a critical part of the care, and advances in medical technology allow our team to pinpoint the exact underlying cause of your issue.

Our preference is to always utilize more conservative treatments if possible—and only recommend surgery if it will provide the best opportunity for an optimal outcome.. Our robust research capabilities allow us to offer cutting-edge treatments for nearly every musculoskeletal condition.

When your provider does offer a diagnosis, they will then equip you with the education and resources needed to make an informed care decision—laying out all the treatment options and possible pathways forward. Ultimately the decision about treatment is a collaborative decision between the patient, their family and your KCOA provider.

Our full list of treatments includes all of the following areas of the body:

Recovery & Communication

Recovery times will vary widely depending on a number of factors, including the extent of your injury, the treatment used, your lifestyle, any co-morbidities, and your treatment goals. In many cases, orthopedic treatments at KCOA will require follow-up visits for supplemental treatments and services. These can include:

What really sets our care apart is our commitment to building and maintaining relationships with those who require care. Each provider at KCOA shares an investment in their patients’ success, and will constantly work to ensure that they get the best outcome. This means that our providers will stay in consistent communication before, during, and after any orthopedic treatment or service.
