Ortho Urgent Care opens November 28 at Kansas City Orthopaedic Institute
Leawood, Kan. – November 17, 2016 – Dickson-Diveley Orthopaedics is pleased to announce that after-hours urgent care for orthopedic injuries will soon be available for patients throughout the Greater Kansas City metro, including Leawood, Overland Park, south Kansas City and the surrounding areas. Ortho Urgent Care is scheduled to open on November 28 at Kansas City Orthopaedic Institute, the region’s only dedicated orthopedic hospital and home to Dickson-Diveley’s Leawood location.
Ortho Urgent Care offers convenient, after-hours access to specialized care, including evenings and weekends, seven days a week.
“Rapid treatment is important for proper recovery from orthopedic injuries—and so is specialized care,” explained Charles Rhoades, M.D., CEO of Kansas City Orthopaedic Institute and orthopedic surgeon at Dickson-Diveley Orthopaedics in a recent news release. “We are here to provide both for our local community, and expanding our services to include Ortho Urgent Care is a natural progression of our commitment.”
Because Ortho Urgent Care is located inside the region’s only dedicated orthopedic hospital, patients will benefit from the specialization of more than 25 board-certified orthopedic physicians—including Dickson-Diveley Orthopaedics physicians—as well as physician assistants and nurses who specialize in orthopedics and sports medicine.
In addition to diagnostic imaging, bracing, splinting, casting, and other treatment services, the staff at Ortho Urgent Care will assist with scheduling of MRIs and rehabilitation therapy if needed. These services are available onsite at Kansas City Orthopaedic Institute.
Walk-in service will be available for patients ages 12 and older with sports injuries and everyday orthopedic injuries caused by falls and other accidents. Fractures, sprains/strains, torn ligaments, muscle contusions (bruises) and minor lacerations are expected to be among the most common injuries treated at Ortho Urgent Care. For concussions or severe injuries that threaten life or limb, patients should call 911 or go the nearest emergency room.
Ortho Urgent Care will see patients Monday through Friday, 5:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., as well as Saturdays and Sundays, 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. More information is available at kcoi.com/urgentcare.
