Michael Khadavi, MD, RMSK is a Stanford-trained Sports Medicine physician originally from Overland Park, Kansas. He is the only physician in Kansas City who is triple board-certified in Sports Medicine, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, and Musculoskeletal Ultrasound (RMSK). He is a leader in Sports Medicine, serving as a national educator and consultant, and providing innovative care for community members and professional athletes alike.

Ultrasounds with Dr. Khadavi

As KCOA’s expert on conservative treatments, Dr. Michael Khadavi has extensive experience with orthopedic ultrasound technology.

Ultrasound, which uses sound waves, helps Dr. Khadavi find and target the source of pain for a more accurate diagnosis. He also uses ultrasound as a guide for injections, which greatly increases the efficacy of a procedure by ensuring a nearly 100% accuracy rate for the injection.

More About Dr. Khadavi

Dr. Khadavi graduated from Shawnee Mission South High School and then completed his Bachelor’s Degree and Medical School at the University of Kansas where he graduated Suma Cum Laude.

He completed his internship at University of Missouri-Kansas City and residency at the University of Missouri in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. In 2014, Dr. Khadavi completed his Sports Medicine Fellowship Program at top-ranked Stanford University.

Although his patients are his passion, Dr. Khadavi has also established himself as a national educator in Regenerative Medicine. As a leader in the field, he is regularly invited to lecture on various national stages including the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Association of Academic Physiatrists, Major League Soccer, and respected universities including Stanford University. Dr. Khadavi also holds physician-level educational courses, teaching hundreds of physicians across the country in Stem Cell Techniques and has now taught the majority of physicians who perform Stem Cell procedures in Kansas City.

Community Involvement

In addition to teaching, Dr. Khadavi has been fortunate to give back to his community through medicine.  Over the last ten years, he has been the Founder and Medical Director of four free medical clinics, all of which continue to provide care to the underserved in the Midwest.   

Outside of Work

“Uncle Mikey,” as he is known to his three nephews, is an avid sports fanatic who can usually be found playing soccer, cycling with his wife or stand-up paddle boarding when not treating patients. He was raised in a musical family, took his fist violin lesson at age four and continues to play violin in his synagogue orchestra.
