Meet Dr. KC Doan, a Sports Medicine Orthopedic Surgeon at Kansas City Orthopedic Alliance specializing in sports surgery, complex and revision knee and shoulder surgery, and joint preservation. Dr. Doan’s team includes Konner Truman, PA-C and Taylor Wade, ATC, who work with him to ensure that outstanding care is delivered to each patient.
Konner Truman, PA-C
Konner joined the KCOA team in 2022. She has always had a passion for health, nutrition and taking care of people and she applies these loves during her interactions with patients of all ages. Konner was raised in Hutchinson, KS and obtained her undergraduate degree at Kansas State University in Nutrition and Health with a secondary major in Gerontology. During her time in undergrad, Konner gained experience in a variety of settings including, urgent care, hospital and home health. After her graduation from KSU, Konner went to Arkansas and received her Masters Degree in Physician Assistant Studies from Harding University in 2021.
Taylor Wade, ATC
Taylor Wade is a Certified Athletic Trainer working with Dr. KC Doan to see patients, formulate post-operative rehabilitation protocols and assist in surgical procedures. He has over 10 years of experience in a variety of settings helping patients resolve musculoskeletal issues. Taylor received his Bachelor of Science in athletic training at Indiana State University and his Masters of Science in athletic training at West Virginia University. Following his graduation, he worked over 4 years at an integrative health and wellness facility in Tucson, Arizona with an emphasis in non-operative treatment and rehabilitation for musculoskeletal conditions. In addition, he has completed a post-professional athletic training residency at the renowned Steadman Clinic and Steadman Philippon Research Institute in Vail, CO, concentrating on clinical and surgical subspecialty orthopedics.

Dr. Doan has qualifications as a wilderness first responder, a private pilot license, and open water diving certifications. He is also an eagle scout and has completed basic avalanche training. He has gone on multiple medical missions in Central and South America.
More About Dr. Doan
Dr. KC Doan is a native of Kansas City, Missouri. He completed the combined undergraduate and medical program at University of Missouri Kansas City. During that time he was very active in UMKC athletics, starting the Rugby program and getting involved with the Rugby Research Injury and Prevention Group in conjunction with researchers at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York.
He then moved to Denver to complete his orthopedic residency training at the University of Colorado. During that time he was extremely involved in the care of athletes, from high school team coverage to professional athletics as well as weekend warriors and injured workers.
Dr. Doan continued his training in sports orthopedics at the prestigious Steadman clinic and Steadman Philippon research institute. Here he continued his work with professional and recreational athletes, while learning surgical techniques from the leaders in the field. He also participated in extensive research on the development and outcomes of surgical treatments of orthopedic injuries. Dr. Doan is returning to Kansas City to treat the community he calls home. He is accompanied by his wife Dr. Sarah Doan who is a pediatrician locally.
Outside of Work
If not at work, you can find Dr. Doan likely outside with his family. He enjoys wakeboarding and mountain biking and plans to get involved with sports teams locally. He also provides medical coverage for the US Ski and Snowboard team and travels for training and competitions for this as well as other sporting events. He looks forward to teaching his son the importance of a healthy and active lifestyle.
