Jared Burns, PA-C, is a physician assistant specializing in sports medicine. He treats a wide range of sports-related injuries as well as chronic knee and shoulder conditions. Jared works alongside Dr. Cris Barnthouse and has been part of the KCOA team since April 2020.

Jared was a member of the Platte County High School Wrestling Team from 2007 to 2010, contributing to the team’s success during a dominant decade. In May 2024, the Platte County wrestling teams from 1999-2010 were inducted into the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame

More About Jared Burns

Jared’s path to healthcare began with his own experiences as an athlete, where injuries sparked his interest in orthopedics. After completing his undergraduate degree in biology at Kansas State University, Jared pursued his Master of Physician Assistant Studies at Wichita State University, graduating in 2017. His career began in Wichita, where he treated foot and ankle conditions at Advanced Orthopaedic Associates before returning to the Kansas City area to work with Dr. Barnthouse.

Jared’s passion lies in helping patients return to the activities they love, whether it’s returning to competitive sports or simply being able to play with their children or grandchildren. He thrives on seeing patients recover and regain their mobility and quality of life.

Outside of Work

When he’s not caring for patients, Jared enjoys spending time with his wife and three children. The family loves attending Kansas State football games, golfing, skiing and traveling whenever they can.
