Readers:

It is an honor to be recognized by my colleges and the health care community for Ingram’s Top Doctor in 2019! I feel privileged to practice with an entire group of “Top Doctors” and I am fortunate to have such great partners at Apex Orthopedics. Most physicians find that they have to work for/with 2 to 3 groups before they find the right place for themselves. I found a home of caring individuals (physicians and staff alike) right from the start.

There are many team members who help our patients feel comfortable: from the first greeting at the front desk, to the reception of our athletic trainers/medical assistants, detailed explanations by our mid-level providers or possibly our surgery schedulers. Many others are checking benefits and helping to make sure your insurance company is playing nicely to cover your care.

Specifically, my PA Shannon Hailey and my ATC Melanie are a huge contributor to my success!

As an orthopedic surgeon, we also rely on the skills of many others at the ambulatory surgery centers and hospitals. Countless nurses, surgical technicians/staff, nurse anesthetists and anesthesiologists are also involved in a patient’s care. Various implant and equipment companies supply us with the latest technology. Countless hours are spent under the guidance of a physical or occupational therapist (many of whom have a doctorate degree) while a patient recovers and rehabilitates. It takes a whole-team of people to help provide outstanding care. From a patient’s perspective, they may only remember a few. I’m fortunate in that I receive a good portion of the thanks and appreciation when all has gone well and someone is fully recovered from their surgery or injury. I mention the above because I consider my nomination to be inclusive of everyone who has helped my care for my patients.

I would like to thank all of them for their sincere efforts and tremendous care in helping me become a “Top Doctor” in Kansas City!

Lastly, I would like to thank all of my patients for trusting me to help them. I’ve been blessed to be a part of improving their quality of life.

Thank you,

Greg Van den Berghe
