More About Dr. Van den Berghe

Dr. Greg Van den Berghe, MD joined Apex Orthopedics & Sports Medicine after completing his fellowship at San Diego Sports Medicine & Arthroscopy in 2004.

Dr. Van den Berghe began his collegiate education at Kansas State University, where he obtained an undergraduate degree in electrical engineering and graduated Summa Cum Laude. From there, he was accepted to the medical school at the University of Kansas, Kansas City, where he received his doctorate in 1998. He then completed his residency at the University of Kansas School of Medicine in Wichita, Kansas, before traveling to San Diego for his fellowship.

While completing his residency, Dr. Van den Berghe developed a passion for shoulder surgery and sports medicine. During his fellowship, he served as a team doctor for the San Diego Padres, and he has worked as a team physician for Sporting KC. Dr. Van den Berghe is experienced working with the highest level of athletes, but he maintains excitement for working with people of all ages and athletic abilities.

Outside of Work

In his free time, Dr. Van den Berghe enjoys spending time with his family and kids and being outdoors, whether boating at Table Rock Lake, teaching his kids to work on cars, attending sporting events, or just going for a bicycle ride in the evenings. He also enjoys traveling, working out at the gym, and surfing/wakeboarding.
