Derek works alongside Dr. Koreckij as a Physician Assistant – Spine Surgery. He has been practicing as a PA for 24 years. Most of this has been with a focus on spine surgery, but he has additional experience in neurosurgery and general orthopedics. Derek completed his BS degree in Physician Assistant Studies from Wichita State University.

Derek Barnard has been a Physician Associate specializing in spine surgery since 2000. Throughout his career, he has worked closely with fellowship-trained spine surgeons in the clinic, hospital, and surgical settings, providing comprehensive care to patients with spinal conditions.
Outside of Work
Derek is married to his high school sweetheart, whom he has known since elementary school while growing up on the edge of the Flint Hills in Madison, Kansas. He and his wife have three children and two dogs and enjoy spending time together as a family.
A graduate of Kansas State University, Derek remains a proud Wildcat and enjoys supporting K-State athletics. He is also a lifelong fan of the Kansas City Chiefs and Kansas City Royals.
