Total Hip Replacement: Bill’s Story

When conservative treatments weren’t providing lasting relief of hip pain, Bill Adams turned to Scott Wingerter, M.D., Ph.D, board-certified orthopedic surgeon at Dickson-Diveley Orthopaedics.

Bill had advanced osteoarthritis in his hip, an orthopedic condition that occurs when cartilage covering the bones wears away, causing the bones to rub against each other. Because Bill wasn’t getting the relief he hoped for with anti-inflammatories and injections, Dr. Wingerter recommended total hip replacement to alleviate his hip pain.

Bill returned to work a week after his hip replacement surgery and continued physical therapy for a couple of months. Today, he says his hip is practically “bulletproof.”  Watch as Bill and Dr. Wingerter tell his story in more detail:
