Total Hip Replacement: Jeffrey’s Story

When hip pain started severely limiting his activities of daily living, Jeffrey Brown turned to Scott Wingerter, M.D., Ph.D, board-certified orthopedic surgeon at Dickson-Diveley Orthopaedics.

Jeffrey was diagnosed at an early age with Perthes disease, a chronic condition caused by loss of blood flow to the femoral head of the hip joint. As the years went on, he developed arthritis and found that conservative (nonsurgical) treatment options offered little to no pain relief. Dr. Wingerter recommended total hip replacement surgery.
