Total Hip Replacement: Honore’s Story

Honore Ashcraft’s knee pain worsened for years, making daily activities very difficult. She eventually resorted to using a cane and avoided stairs whenever possible.

Upon meeting Dr. Scott Wingerter, orthopedic surgeon at Dickson-Diveley Orthopaedics, Honore learned she was suffering from primary hip osteoarthritis, an orthopedic condition that occurs when cartilage covering the bones wears away, causing the bones to rub against each other. Dr. Wingerter recommended total joint replacement surgery, a treatment option for patients with severe hip pain or conditions not relieved by medications, physical therapy and other non-surgical methods.
