Shoulder pain is a common musculoskeletal complaint. When shoulder pain occurs, the most common concern is, “Did I tear my rotator cuff?” Our ability to diagnose specific causes of shoulder pain and offer patient specific treatments has greatly increased due to the advances of diagnosis, advanced imaging, rehabilitation (both preventative and postoperative) and arthroscopic surgery. A rotator cuff tear is the index injury of the shoulder, but is part of a continuum of shoulder conditions.
