Patients who suffer from back pain generally want to avoid surgery and frequently ask me for alternative options. One non-surgical treatment is an epidural steroid injection. These injections typically treat radiculopathies, or pinched nerves causing neck or lower back pain, and herniated or protruded discs. Epidural steroid injections help relieve back pain by reducing inflammation. I give these injections under X-ray guidance to ensure the proper nerves receive the pain medication.
