Dickson-Diveley Orthopaedics is proud to announce that Daniel Sisk, M.D., has joined the practice and will be seeing patients starting November 2.
Dr. Sisk is board certified in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R), also known as physiatry, a specialty that focuses on using nonsurgical and minimally invasive techniques and treatments to help patients overcome painful conditions. He has extensive training in the use of ultrasound for diagnostics and therapeutic injections, which can enhance accuracy and precision while improving the likelihood of recovery without surgery for many patients. Through ultrasound and EMG-guided procedures, Dr. Sisk diagnoses and treats a wide range of orthopedic injuries involving all extremities, as well as the spine in certain cases.
Originally from Overland Park, Kan., Dr. Sisk earned his medical degree from The University of Kansas School of Medicine. He completed internships in internal medicine at Truman Medical Center and Saint Luke’s Health System in Kansas City, Mo., before moving to Seattle for his PM&R residency at the University of Washington Affiliated Hospitals. Dr. Sisk then completed his PM&R-Sports Medicine fellowship at Stanford University in Palo Alto, Calif., before returning home to Kansas City.
During his time at Stanford Health Care, Dr. Sisk served as team physician for multiple sports at Stanford University, covering games, managing acute injuries and directing rehabilitation toward return to sport. He has experience treating all musculoskeletal conditions including strains, sprains, contusions and fractures. He also helped manage a return to sport program for athletes with mild to moderate concussions.
“Dr. Sisk’s experience managing athletes fills a much-needed role for Dickson-Diveley Orthopaedics and allows us to provide an additional level of expertise to meet the growing demands of our community,” said Brian Stewart, Chief Development Officer for Dickson-Divelely Orthopaedics. “He’ll be a true asset in helping assist all types of athletes get back to normal, from young recreational athletes and weekend warriors to highly competitive high school and college athletes, as well as industrial athletes.”
“It’s a privilege to return home to Kansas City and go to work for the best orthopedic group in the region,” Dr. Sisk said. “I’ve always envisioned treating patients here in my hometown community and being able to give back in a way that makes a lasting impact. I’m excited to get started, and I’m looking forward to continuing to build on our tradition of excellence.”
